An ingrown hair most often occurs when the hair follicle becomes clogged with dead skin cells, preventing the hair from protruding outside the skin.
How does an ingrown hair appear?
They can vary in size. They are more common among people who have coarse or curly hair and may or may not be accompanied by an infection. This infection often makes an ingrown hair look like a pimple.
